Privacy Policy

Who this covers

This policy applies to the HoverTome application for VR headsets (package com.dfet.hovertome). HoverTome is developed and published by an independent developer, contactable at support@hovertome.com.

Information we do not collect

HoverTome collects no personal data whatsoever. Specifically, it does not collect or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any account credentials — HoverTome has no sign-in and no user accounts.
• Analytics, telemetry, crash reports, usage statistics, or session data.
• Advertising identifiers. HoverTome contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
• Your titles, reading habits, reading history, bookmarks, or settings — none of this leaves your headset.
• Location data, contacts, microphone audio, camera imagery, hand-tracking data, or eye-tracking data.

What is stored on your headset

Everything HoverTome saves is written to the app's own private storage area on your device, which no other app can read. This includes:

• Book files you have imported or downloaded.
• Your reading position in each book, and your bookmarks.
• Your preferences — font, text size, page colour, chosen environment, sound settings, and similar.
• Cached cover images generated from your own book files.

None of this is transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling HoverTome deletes all of it.

Access to your files

When you import a book, HoverTome uses the Android system file picker. You choose the specific file, and HoverTome receives access only to that file, which it copies into its own private storage. HoverTome does not request broad storage permissions and cannot browse, read, or index files you have not explicitly selected.

Network connections

HoverTome makes no network connections during normal reading. There is exactly one feature that goes online:

• Discover. If you open the Discover section and tap a title, HoverTome downloads that public-domain book directly from Project Gutenberg (gutenberg.org). This request sends no information about you beyond what any ordinary web request necessarily reveals to the server it contacts — such as your IP address. Project Gutenberg's own privacy practices govern their side of that request. HoverTome sends them nothing about your library, your identity, or your reading.

If you never use Discover, HoverTome never connects to the internet at all. The dictionary is bundled inside the app and works entirely offline.

Third parties

HoverTome shares no data with third parties, because it collects none. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or crash-reporting services in the app.

Separately, if you obtained HoverTome from the Meta Horizon Store, Meta handles your purchase, your account, and any data associated with distributing the app. That relationship is governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not this one.

Children

HoverTome does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because no personal data is collected from any user, there is nothing collected from children either.

Your rights

Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. HoverTome holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete. All data the app creates lives on your own device and is removed when you uninstall the app.

We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA, because we do not collect any.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of HoverTome adds a feature that changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top of this page will change.
